About Us

Tea is a powerful beverage. Aside from it’s flavorful, comforting, and stimulating properties, tea has the power to unite people. In a world where we are constantly in motion—a cup of tea enables us to stop, take a break, and think about something other than our own busy lives. Tea inspires us to think beyond ourselves. When two people share a pot of tea together, they discover, through the medium of tea, that they are able to connect in a unique, interpersonal way. It was in this spirit of slowing down and connecting with others that Giving Tea was born. In the fall of 2012, two Virginian college students decided to start a company that combined their love for tea with their desire to make an impact in the world.

Giving Tea is a charitable company devoted to helping people in need. For each package of tea sold, we give 10% of the proceeds to our featured charities.

  • Helping to provide, food, clean water, and shelter to people in need
  • Encouraging healthy life-style through organic, loose-leaf tea
  • Providing opportunities for independent tea farmers

We are excited to offer our customers a chance to enjoy high quality teas in a business model they can feel good about supporting. Together, we can help people in need, one cup of tea at a time.

Charities we support:

charity: water

charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Founded in 2006, it has helped fund 6,611 projects in 20 countries, benefiting over 2,545,000 people.

Started in 1980 in Spartanburg, SC, Rice Bowls is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide food for orphans in the name of Christ.   After visiting developing countries and witnessing the ravages of world hunger first-hand, Dr. Alastair Walker decided to develop a pro-active means to feed the hungry.

Health and Tea

The Many Health Benefits of Loose Leaf Tea   Here at Giving Tea we love drinking tea for the unique health benefits. Tea contains flavonoids which act as antioxidants. These antioxidants help neutralize cell damaging free-radicals which in return has a positive impact on some chronic diseases including some types of cancer (skin, oral, lung, ovarian cancer, etc.) and cardiovascular disease. Research studies show that the theanine found in tea is a distinctive amino acid that preps the immune system to help fight infection, bacteria and viruses. This theanine helps the immune system generate higher levels of interferon. Interferon is a protein our bodies produce and one of its main functions is to build up our immune system. When talking about health benefits, we must...
